A Polish-Born Gold Coast Artist Turns a One-Sided Relationship Into a Cheeky Funk-Tinged Kiss-Off

ZUZY released Up To Me on 4 September 2026, the second song in a three-part set she calls the Sour Cream trinity. It is a cheeky, funk-tinged alt-pop single about a partner who leaves every decision to you. The final chapter, the Polish-language Sama w Domu, followed on 23 October.

ZUZY has Up To Me in the playlist below, the middle song of her Sour Cream trinity, and every article about the project is on the ZUZY artist profile. The single came to MusicDrops.News through PopHits.Co Music Charts, which verifies independent artists and places their releases across its network of music news titles. Press play, then keep reading for where the trinity goes.

ZUZY Opened the Sour Cream Trinity With Gravel Road, a Debut Written on Forest Walks in South East Queensland

Behind the name is Zuzanna Wawruszczak, born in Poland and now based on the Gold Coast. She writes and produces her own songs. On stage, she performs as a live looper, building sets from voice, keys and layers made on the spot.

The trinity began with Gravel Road, her debut single, in late June 2026. She wrote it on walks through the forests and winding roads of South East Queensland. In short, it is a song about finding your way back to yourself.

On that first single she sang the lead and backing vocals and handled the keyboards and programming. She also produced it with Benny D. Williams, who mixed it, while Zane Taprell shot the video. The City of Gold Coast Arts Development Fund supported all three songs.

Gravel Road Set the Sound With Electronics and Layered Vocals Around a Quiet Idea

The debut leaned towards atmosphere: electronics, layered vocals and organic sounds, with nature as a place to slow down and think. However, that is the starting point Up To Me moves away from.

Up To Me Trades the Forest for a Funk-Tinged Kiss-Off Before ZUZY Closes the Trinity in Polish

By contrast, Up To Me runs to 2:47, the shortest of the three songs. Zuzanna Wawruszczak wrote it and sings it, and Robert Cichy produced it, with additional production from ZUZY herself. She cut the vocals in Poland; then Benny D Williams mixed the track and Paul Blakey mastered it in Australia.

The idea is sharp and funny. Being capable sounds like power. Then everyone leaves every plan and every next move to you, and you realise you are carrying the whole relationship. At that point, the song decides, if it really is up to you, you might not want it at all.

Meanwhile, the groove gives the sarcasm room. ZUZY describes her music as electronic textures, crooked grooves and dry humour. On Up To Me, the funk and the humour sit at the front. Zane Taprell’s video, filmed on the Gold Coast, mixes traditional Polish food and styling with Australian sunshine.

From the MusicDrops.News curator team: “Up To Me sits fifth in our Pop, Alt-Pop, Dance Pop playlist, straight after Benson Boone’s acoustic Beautiful Things and below Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan and Tate McRae. It is the driest joke in that run. We would play it to anyone who likes their alt-pop with a raised eyebrow.”

Sama w Domu Closes the Sour Cream Trinity as a Six-Minute Polish Trip-Hop Song at 69 BPM

In fact, what came next has already arrived. Sama w Domu, Polish for home alone, came out on 23 October as the trinity’s final chapter. It is a trip-hop song in Polish, at 69 beats per minute and 6 minutes 9 seconds. The subject is waiting for someone, hating how much you care and pretending you are fine by yourself.

This time ZUZY wrote, performed and produced it, with Williams producing and mixing alongside her. She also filmed and edited the video herself. As a result, the run moves from a forest walk to a funk-tinged kiss-off to an empty flat and a glass of wine.

For example, two artists show where this kind of path can lead. Tash Sultana grew up in Melbourne, started out busking and is often called a one-person band. In 2016, a home video of Jungle passed a million views in five days. ZUZY’s looped live sets, built from voice and keys, come from the same do-it-alone instinct.

Remi Wolf self-released her debut EP, You’re a Dog!, in 2019. Later, singles such as Photo ID and her 2021 album Juno took her funk-bright, joke-filled pop to a wider audience. Up To Me works in that register, with a groove carrying a punchline.

Start with Up To Me, then play Gravel Road and the Polish closer to hear the whole trinity in order.
