Weeping Angel, the Beacon Metalcore Band, Started as Circles of the Burial Before In Too Deep

Guitarist Zach Buddie started the project alone, recording under the name Circles of the Burial. The demos circulated on Instagram, YouTube and Bandcamp until 2024. That year, singer Hideo Schwartz found the page through an Instagram ad.

Schwartz then brought in drummer Tim Smith. The three learned to play together through covers, among them Lamb of God’s Laid to Rest and Knocked Loose’s Counting Worms. After a change of name, the trio recorded a self-titled EP in Buddie’s home and released it in March 2025.

A change of name is a familiar first step in this corner of metalcore. Wage War formed in Ocala, Florida in 2010 as Empires. Their first EP, The Fall of Kings, was the only record they released on their own. In 2015 they signed to Fearless Records, which released their debut album, Blueprints, that November.

Meanwhile, the Weeping Angel line-up filled in one member at a time. Ronald Salazar joined on bass after meeting Buddie at a Coheed and Cambria music video shoot in Nyack, New York. Then, in December 2025, James Tedesco of The Sad Witch Collective joined as rhythm guitarist.

With Tedesco in place, the five-piece was complete. For a sense of what a settled line-up can mean, August Burns Red are the obvious reference. The Lancaster, Pennsylvania band first rehearsed in an old egg house and a basement on their drummer’s family farm. The same five members have played together since 2006.

MusicDrops.News Curator Team: “We placed the title track in our playlist because it is the quickest way into this band. In four minutes it moves from a war story in the verses to a clean, open chorus, and the rhythm section never lets it settle.”

In Too Deep Gathers Three Singles and Eight New Songs Recorded With If I Were You’s Randy Pasquarella

The Beacon metalcore band took about a year to record In Too Deep, with Randy Pasquarella of If I Were You producing. The Judge came first, recorded in spring 2025 and released as a single that June. After that, Ascension followed in November 2025, then Parasite in April 2026.

Those three singles mark out the band’s range. Ascension is the big one, built around orchestral choruses and close to five minutes long. By contrast, Parasite is the hardcore side, done in two minutes and 17 seconds.

Hideo Schwartz handles every vocal on the album, both the clean singing and the harsh. The one exception is The Judge, where the whole band and Pasquarella add gang shouts. Zach Buddie and James Tedesco tracked the guitars, Ronald Salazar the bass and Tim Smith the drums. Nicolás Oliveros made the cover artwork.

The album opens with the title track, and its lyric explains the name. A survivor looks over a battlefield, asks whether god has abandoned his creation, and admits that the fighters are far too deep to stop this massacre.

From there, the record moves between its two poles. Event Horizon leans on djent-style guitar work, and When Fate Forgot Me opens on quiet piano before the band crashes in. Screaming at the Stars turns brighter, with riffs that stay heavy but melodic. Finally, the album closes on The Weight of the Ocean, two minutes long, with three lines asking to be taken out to sea.

What Comes Next for the Beacon Metalcore Band, From Local Stages to Galactic Empire in Albany

The band played more than 20 shows in 2026, sharing bills with local favourites such as Torn Open. Next, on Wednesday 4 November, Weeping Angel open for Galactic Empire at Empire Underground on North Pearl Street in Albany. The headliners’ latest album, Cinemetal, came out on Pure Noise Records in October 2025. It plays film themes from Superman to Lord of the Rings as metal. That suits a band whose Ascension already reaches for an orchestra.

Further along the same road are Currents, from Newtown, Connecticut. They released two EPs on their own before SharpTone Records put out their debut album, The Place I Feel Safest, in 2017. Weeping Angel are at the start of that path, with an EP, three singles and now an album of their own.

Weeping Angel point fans of Currents, Wage War and August Burns Red their way. For a first listen, play the title track, then Ascension and Parasite back to back to hear both ends of the band.
