A Romanian Techno Producer Pairs Lighter Drum and Bass with Twenty Rules About Kindness

COSMIC DUST by LoNgKiCk came out on 9 October 2026. It is a light drum and bass single by a producer and DJ from Bucharest, Romania, whose earlier releases were mostly dark techno. It arrived with a manifesto in twenty rules about love and standing up for each other. Within two weeks that message had a home in a new run of DJ mixes, and that move is the story of where this producer is going.

LoNgKiCk’s COSMIC DUST is in our playlist below, and every earlier article on the producer sits on the LoNgKiCk profile. PopHits.Co Music Charts, which verifies independent artists and places their releases across its network of music news titles, brought COSMIC DUST to MusicDrops.News. Hit play, then read on for the dark techno summer that came before it.

Before COSMIC DUST, LoNgKiCk Made Mashups, Live Mixes and Six Dark Techno Singles in One June

The story starts behind the decks, though. LoNgKiCk’s YouTube channel goes back about two years, to mashups and remixes of club tracks. Solomun met Tale Of Us, Mau P met Chris Lake, and one hard techno mashup was built on a Charlotte de Witte record.

De Witte is a useful marker for where LoNgKiCk started. The Belgian DJ and producer is known for a dark, stripped-back take on acid and minimal techno. She also founded her own labels, KNTXT and Époque. LoNgKiCk’s channel describes the same lane: dark techno, industrial and hardstyle, made in Romania, built to sound like heavy machinery coming apart.

The first original releases came all at once. In June 2026, LoNgKiCk put out six singles in four weeks. Noir Circuit opened on 2 June as cinematic dark techno, and Shadow Pulse and Retrograde System followed three days later. Silent Wind arrived on 19 June, and Lethal Nature and GreenHouse Effect closed the month on 26 June. Between the singles came PURE PARTY, a run of live mixes in tech house and rave, and two harder singles followed in September.

So by October the catalogue had a clear identity: heavy, dark and built for loud systems. That is what makes the next single a turn.

COSMIC DUST Lightens LoNgKiCk’s Sound and Adds a Manifesto in Twenty Rules About Love

COSMIC DUST changes the temperature. It is light drum and bass, built on atmospheric synths and an energetic but gentle rhythm. The YouTube upload files it under DnB and garage, and it runs just under four minutes. LoNgKiCk, credited as Roman Ciprian Marius, composed it.

The idea behind it is bigger than the track. LoNgKiCk treats cosmic dust as a first rule of unity: everyone is made of the same material, so division and religion can be set aside. People have only ever thrived by having each other’s backs, the argument goes. And since we only live once, the time to be gentler is now.

Then there is the manifesto itself. The video for COSMIC DUST, posted a day before the release, adds twenty rules about love and standing up for each other. It asks viewers to read them at any speed and to say which rule hit hardest. Then it asks them to send the video to the person it made them think of.

High Contrast shows how much feeling a lighter, melodic style of dnb can carry. The Welsh producer and DJ built his career on liquid funk and named film soundtracks such as Blade Runner among his first influences. He also helped select and produce the music for the athletes’ parade at the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony. That is the tradition COSMIC DUST steps towards: dnb that is warm rather than menacing.

What Comes After COSMIC DUST for LoNgKiCk Is SAFE SPACE, a Dark Techno Mix Series With a Soft Heart

So what came next was not another single. On 17 October, LoNgKiCk opened SAFE SPACE, a series of long DJ mixes, with a 50-minute set called Opening Night. It starts warm at about 126 BPM and darkens to about 140. Then it drops to a quiet stretch, peaks, takes one soft breath and slams back in.

The series has its own slogan: dark techno, soft heart. Everyone is invited, and nobody judges anyone’s dancing. A Halloween edition and a Reaper Edition followed. The fourth, released on 6 November, is a mix about the sadness that comes when summer ends.

That is the line from COSMIC DUST to now. The sound in the mixes is as dark as the June singles, but the framing is the single’s message: be gentle with each other. LoNgKiCk has kept the heavy machinery and changed what it is for.

From the MusicDrops.News curator team: “We placed COSMIC DUST fifth in our Electronic, Dance, House playlist, straight after salute’s check check. A dark techno producer making a light dnb single about kindness is the kind of turn we like to put in front of listeners.”
